Hot-------check!

Hot-------check!

Sorry, but I like Carmen Electra, and I think I may have sort of a girlcrush on her. Don't get me wrong, I am not gay and I am not going to go all Jessica Stein or anything, but I do think she is hot.

Carmen is on the cover of Los Angeles Magazine this month in what I am assuming is her Pussycat Dolls get up. Very cute.
I love Los Angeles Magazine because it talks about all the great shopping and restaurants in LA--and I need to know those things. I like to be in the know about the West Coast-YO.

Carmen seems very down to earth. She is a Midwestern girl from Ohio. She went to a performing arts school with Nick Lachey back in the day. I bet he is totally kicking himself for not hooking up with HER instead of his present wife.
I do not know what Carmen was thinking marrying Dave Navarro. Maybe I am being too harsh, but he looks like he has the body of a 13 year old girl. Perhaps a Russian gymnast who is a 13 year old girl-- because he is compact and muscular, but TINY none the less. I am sure he is a very nice guy who treats Carmen very well. He was kinda cool on Rock Star INXS.
I suspect he has a Napoleon complex though. One time on Rock Star INXS Marty Casey said something hateful to him in a jovial manner, and Little Dave got all bent out of shape.

For someone who started out with a pretty sleazy career, I think Carmen has classed up nicely. She looks great in couture, which is usually very hard for the former sleaze crowd to pull off--Christina Aguilera case in point.
I think Carmen has that old school, pin up kind of beauty that I totally admire.

Kudos to Carmen for making her marriage work and kudos to her for being The Beautiful Face Today--which just might be her biggest honor to date! HA

Odalisque

There is a little jewel box of beauty in Geneva, Illinois aptly named Odalisque.
Odalisque is a beauty apothecary in every sense of the term. The atmosphere is quaint, cozy and very Euro--in the very best of ways.
It is owned by a cool gal named Bridget who has lived in France, worked for years at Neiman Marcus, and is married to a hot guy in a rock band. Bridget knows a little bit about everything--so in addition to shopping at her awesome store, chatting with her is a big treat, and always a laugh!

Bridget explained to me that an Odalisque is where ladies in ancient times used to go to beautify themselves. You can surely do that at Odalisque in Geneva. There is a treasure trove of hard to find and niche products to sample and try on. Bridget carries Aesop skin care, City Lips plumping lip gloss(this stuff rocks), 3 Custom Color lip gloss, Frownies, Weleda skin care, Dr. Hauschka skin care, Gunilla of Sweden skin care, and numerous other wonderful bath and body products. Odalisque also carries their own house brand of makeup that truly rivals any of the big name brands. Bridget is a master with makeup and if she has time she loves to give makeup lessons, and share tips that make everyone feel beautiful.

I happen to be obsessed with fragrance, and since Odalisque has been in business their fragrance selection has grown by leaps and bounds. Personally this thrills me to no end.
Their selection includes: Sage by the well known L.A. company Sage Machado, Patyka 1922, 4711--the legendary German cologne, The Ebba line --also from Los Angeles, The Tiare line which is very Polynesian full of Tahitian Vanillas, Gardenias, and other tropical things, Monyette Paris, Frank LA, and breathtaking fragrances from L'Artisan Parfumers--directly from France. She also carries the Auric Blends line--which are great and priced so that you can buy many to mix and match.
Bridget is always scouting for wonderful fragrances and products, so her inventory is always expanding with new and beautiful things.

I love Odalisque, and I shop there often. Great products, beautiful atmosphere, and always a good conversation. When Bridget is not around you can usually chat with her Mom--who is also a treat!

By the way--Odalisque is located on Third Street in Geneva. There are lots of little boutiques and great restaurants located there. You can easily spend an afternoon . It is beautiful this time of year, and full of activity.

Tagged!

Hello!

My smart and funny friend "T" at BrainTrappedinGirlsBody tagged me for 20 random facts. Since most things about my life are totally random this was easy.

Here we go "T"--

1. I do not eat white potatoes--ever.

2. I am obsessed with my teeth and dental hygiene.

3. I am double jointed.

4. I was born in Europe.

5. I want a nose job.

6. I have never done an illegal drug.

7. I need to do more volunteer work.

8. I am pretty much opposed to organized religion. I find there to be way too many hypocrites in church. But I secretly wish I was Jewish.

9. I really do not like staying the night at other people's houses--even my family member's houses. I would rather stay in a hotel, but I do not like hotels that have shower curtains in the bathrooms. Hotel shower curtains gross me out. I would rather have a door on the shower. I am very weird about that.

10. I am an only child, and I suffer from all the quirky and weird things most only children suffer from.

11. I cannot stand people who neglect their pets.

12. I am an avid list maker for fear I will not get something done, then the world will end.

13. I freak out at the thought of being late to something, or missing something.

14. My dream job would be a skit writer on Saturday Night Live.

15. I am a really good snow skier.

16. I am afraid to scuba dive.

17. I wish I could relax.

18. I love to cook.

19. I feel better when I exercise.

20. In many ways, I feel very lucky.

OK--Now I must tag Jen at * JennipahOnTour *
And Barb at * Womenonthevergeofthinking *

It's a shoe party!

There are few things in life I love more than shoes, purses, and perfume so when my friend MJ invited me to a shoe party, my heart soared. There was going to be a prize for best shoes voted on by all party goers. I pulled out the big guns for this Suburban Shoe Extravaganza! I wore my 2 tone pink and yellow Pucci wedges that I got in Beverly Hills last year.
They were a hit, and out of 37 party goers, I WON THE CONTEST. Would you expect anything less from MonkeyPosh? HA! I even wore a shirt that read "Will Work For Shoes". I was not playing.

The party was a blast as MJ is a lovely party hostess. We had cake, and dips and breads, and a nice guy named Paul to serve the wine. He was the only boy, cause it was a girlfriend party. And all the women, and all their shoes were fabulous!

These are just a few party pictures for you party people!
