Grecian Fashion

I knew when I first arrived in Athens and I saw the Greek versions of Lucky and InStyle that I was in for a great trip. I love European magazines, and it is all I can do sometimes to find the British version of InStyle--but the GREEK VERSION--be still my heart. I could not read one single word, but I was in heaven perusing the pages of beautiful Greek models in their beautiful Greek fashions. The photo above is just a cool perfume store ad in the Greek Lucky. I thought it was very unique.

The most stylish department store in Athens is Attica. Attica is huge and rivals any department store in NYC. The styles and name brands are awesome. Wranglers (yes the hokey jeans all the farmers wore in Oklahoma) are making a fashion splash in Asia and Europe. They are HUGE. They were selling for about 200.00 Euros which is about 230.00 US dollars. Also L'Oreal makeup is sold at the mall there. It is very high end as opposed to it being drugstore makeup here in the US. There was a wide variety of L'Oreal makeup there that is unique and different. I love L'Oreal and I love all things new and different so I totally stocked up.

During the day in Greece, the color on the streets was all white. EVERYONE (men and women) wore white Tods drivers (or look alikes) and everyone wore white linen pants and gauzy linen shirts. The photo above is blurry and taken from a cab, but very indicitive of the everyday out and about outfits in Athens. The all white looks very cool and very Euro. Athens is quite busy and crowded and dirty--so I would love to know their secret for keeping their white clothes so clean. I would be filthy in 10 minutes if I wore all white all day long.
The other constant fashion was the Miss Sixty Jeans. Especially with the younger, hipster crowd. Miss Sixty was everywhere with the young girls. I have always loved Miss Sixty....and the styles in Greece are way cooler than what I can find in Chicago.
While in Athens, I became obsessed with the dresses in the window of the Penelope Zagoras Boutique. Her dresses are so beautiful. To me they looked like works of art, and I swear if I were not already married I would pick the dress below as my wedding dress. At night when we would walk by and it was all lit up in the window against the dark of the store, it was truly breathtaking.

This is another dress by Penelope Zagoras. I wonder if she would do these in a color other than white. I would bet in another color they would be gorgeous and not so bridal. Her other dresses were beautiful too....but the presentations in her windows seriously took my breath away.
All in all, the Greeks are beautiful and fit and stylish. The Greek Islands have a totally different style than the mainland. I will talk more about the Islands in my next post.

Have a lovely day!

Athens, Greece

I have finally figured out how to configure the pics from my husband's photo card into blogger. Blogger does not like the new camera card.

These are more pictures of Athens. The Greeks LOVE their Nescafe. It is EVERYWHERE and reminders of it are everywhere. They drink it cold with milk and sugar. It is seriously delicious.

I have no idea why I have my hand on my hip like I am Xena Warrior Princess in the one picture. As I said- it was hot and I was tired.

Also, please forgive the cussing mouse. It was in the Plaka area (shopping, eating, bustling area at the base of the Acropolis), and it was hilarious. In the middle of all these graffiti words in the Greek alphabet there was just this one pissed off mouse. So pissed off he spoke in English!

Tomorrow I will post some Greek Fashion. They are a beautiful and fashionable people.

Have a lovely day!

Greece-- The Acropolis

I am back from my trip to Greece, The Greek Isles, and Germany.
I am tired and jetlagged, and still unpacking. It was the first time I had been back to Germany since I was 2 years old. Germany is my homeland, so it was very cool going back. It was a wonderful trip, but as always- I am glad to be home to my own bed and DIET PEPSI! There is no Diet Pepsi in Europe. They have Pepsi Light but I swear it is poison! Whatever is in Pepsi Light and Coca Cola Light gives me a horrid headache.

I am having trouble getting blogger to post some of the pictures, so bear with me. Also please forgive my appearance in some of the pictures--it was VERY HOT in Athens
and I was very tired.

I would like to thank my friend Joni for all the great Greece information and a cool guy named Kristof for the awesome Germany information.

I will share more pictures as blogger allows.

Have a wonderful day!

Benefit Some Kind of Gorgeous.

Is it a foundation? Is it a moisturizer? Is it a magic glow inducing combination of the two?

Benefit Some Kind of Gorgeous is very interesting. At first I was scared because it only comes in one shade, but alas--it is actually one shade that I think would work on anyone. This coming from a redhead who RARELY finds anything that matches my skin, and I am the first to scoff heartily at products that claim to do so. There is no scoffing on this product though.

It is in a powder compact-yet not a powder. It is like a gel almost, but not really. Very hard to describe, but a very cool product. There is almost a see through coverage--with tons of luminous glow. It feels very light and does not leave you feeling greasy.
Long story short--I dig it.

Another great feature to this product is that it can be used as a foundation AND it is not a liquid, so perfect for flying.

I do not know about you but this whole no liquids in the carry ons has totally changed the way I pack. I am super paranoid that some of the liquids that are not allowed in my carry ons will explode all over my clothes in my checked baggage. UGH!

Try Benefit Some Kind of Gorgeous. I bet you will be feeling the glow and feeling some kind of gorgeous indeed.

Congrats J-Piv

If I had a dollar for everyone who has written me and chastised me for not posting about the Emmys and the fact that my man Jeremy Pivin won an Emmy--I would be a wealthier woman this week. I have been scolded and ridiculed because I have not shown the love for my man Jeremy Piven.
Lost Okie--this one's for you
:

If I were to be totally honest, I would have to say that some of his appeal has waned with me because now EVERYONE knows who he is. Don't get me wrong--this recognition is long overdue for J-Piv, but for selfish reasons I liked him better when he was lesser known. I like obscure things--things not everyone else knows about. There are so many people who like him now, who have no appreciation as to who he was or his body of work back then.

I am very happy he won, and I am sorry I have been so remiss in commenting. Plus he rocked that ascot better than Higgins on a 1982 episode of Magnum P.I. Seriously.
His character is brilliant on Entourage. He really is the star of the show. I am glad people notice.

Another shout out to my friend C. for sending me the Billy Bush interview video with J-Piv. Did you guys see that? It was hilarious. Also Jeremy did an interview after he won where he mentioned masturbating--then promptly said he needed to go find his mom-EEEEWWWWW! He disenchanted me a bit there. Get some manners Pivert.

Rest assured I still love the Piv, I have always loved the Piv, and I apologize that I have not shown the love till now.

I would like to send a shout out to my fellow J-Piv lovers Em and Jonna--who appreciated the Piv WAY before Entourage.
