Grounded.

Friday was a BAD day.
I was up at 3:00am to be ready to leave for the airport at 5:45am to catch my 8:45am plane to NYC for Fashion Week duties and parties and receptions and shows. We had about 11 inches of snow through the night on Thursday --and it was still snowing--so I dutifully checked my flight status on the internet. Much to my surprise it said my flight was ON TIME. I was surprised considering the tragic weather, but I crossed my fingers and went with it.

It took over 2 hours to get to the airport because NONE of the roads were plowed at that G_d-awful hour of the morning. I get to the airport only to look at the status screen and see that my flight was CANCELLED. Everyone was fighting for the very few flights leaving O'Hare. Over 600 flights were cancelled at O'Hare yesterday. SIX HUNDRED! The best I could hope for would be a 4:00pm flight--however while I was standing in the check in line, that 4:00pm flight quickly got delayed to 5pm, then 6pm, then 6:40pm....then 7:20pm..and so on and so forth.
Because all the bad weather here was supposedly moving towards my destination, my chances of getting out were basically ZERO. I checked to see about flights today, and there are tons of cancellations and delays today too, because of all the cancellations yesterday and the domino effect that causes for the next few days. By the way, the weather is supposed to be 48 degrees and sunny in NYC today.....DAMN YOU CHICAGO WINTER!
One of the things I was going to get to be involved in while in New York was a reception to honor Australian designer Josh Goot. He showed his stuff earlier this week in NYC. So to rub salt in my wounds, I get up this morning to check my e-mail and there is one from Intermix, so I click on it and guess what is highlighted on the Intermix website???? JOSH GOOT ITEMS galore. DAMN SNOW!! DAMN CHICAGO!!!

Oh well.

I hope where ever you are, you have good weather.

Here is hoping all my friends at Fashion Week are having a blast and having better luck than me.

Jen, I am so sorry your flight was cancelled after driving all that way to the airport. I am sorry that you missed the Fashion Week duties. Bummer you won't be with Josh Goot, so sorry. Darn the snow, what a pain in the derriere!

Your yard looks beautiful, it looks like a winter wonderland! Does Finley like to play in it? I know Forrest has joint problems poor kid, so he can't take too much cold. How is he doing with the muzzle issue? I hope he's doing better overall.

I know how disappointed you are over the trip, so please pamper yourself, take a warm bath, then light a fire, make hot cocoa and have a fragrance party. You'll feel much better about everything. Hang in there.

You know what really sucks about where you live? When you do get obscene amounts of snow, you cannot even use it to ski or snow board or anything. It is useless in Chicago. It messes up travel and pretty much makes everyone depressed.
I am so sorry that happened.
Move to Australia where we have rain, but no snow.
Hope to see you soon bunchie!!

Oh that sucks! I was busy thinking how lucky Sean was to get out on his Thursday night flight, esp. when I heard the cancellation count on the evening news. If I'd known you were one of the cancelled, I'd have driven out to the airport to have cocktails with ya! :)

*Hi Pat-
I KNOW RIGHT!!??!! More snow tomorrow. I mean really. I am so tired of this.
Are you still loving Chelsea Girl, and Penny Lane? How about Hadrian?
Hope you are staying warm and doing great!

*Hi Shiloh--
Thanks for stopping by--YES it totally bites. I was looking forward to haning out with you too.
Yes, please give Marc my love!
I hope you are having fun in NYC.

**Hi Miss S-
How are you Dawg? I heard on the news your temp was 85 today....ACK. I am so jealous!
Thanks for your thoughts of clear roads, travel safety, and sunshine. Right now we have rain and fog.
Girl--I read your inside joke--SHOUT OUT MR.WALKER AND THE WHEAT GOD! Your blog would not let me comment, but I will try again later. Thanks for making me smile.
xoxo

**Hello Pia-
How are you? How is Hubby? I hope he is all better from his illness. Thanks as always for your nice words.
YES Finley LOVES the snow. We call him "baby sled dog"--DH wishes Finley could go to "fantasy dog sled camp" like some men go to fantasy football camp.
We are expecting more snow so a fragrance party and hot cocoa is just what I need--oh and a shot of whiskey!
Have a great night!

**lemon cookie,
How are you? You are so right--the snow is worthless here. I mean I guess you can cross country ski, but that is too cold and tedious for me.
Thanks for your kind words. Pending the upcoming election, Australia is looking better and better-HA!
Take care!

**Hello D-
Thanks for visiting. Yes, O'Hare is quite difficult in Winter.
I raise a glass to you in honor of Summer!

*Hi JKR-
YES -more effing snow! YES- my car is still wrecked...will be in the shop till March. ACK!
Hope you are well!

*Hi My Butterfly-
You have not flown around here in a long time.
I look forward to your blogs!

*Hi Jamie--
I hope Sean got to his destination without a hitch. You are too kind--airport cocktails would have hit the spot!!!

**Hi R-
How are you love?
Thanks for your kind words!Yes, I had a very cozy weekend cooped up in the snowy madness. I hope you are doing great!

Hi Jen. Poor you. Maybe in some kind of twisted way you were lucky that you got stranded in Chicago. Not only did my flight get in late and I missed the Coutorture mixer, but now my luggage is on a milk carton -- it is missing! Woe is me. But life is too short to worry about the loss of stuff. It is only stuff in the luggage. Now, if I only could convince myself of that. Ha.

I was at least hoping for a flight out to the OC (the "real" OC). That would have been a great surprise. I'm sorry that your travel plans went awry. PS I thought of you & Forrest on the Superbowl commercial with the horse & Dalmation. Did you see it? I miss you friend.
